What our EPIC clients have to say

Compliments to your staff and centre. I was so impressed by how the entire process was handled. So polite and comforting and professional.

Dee Munks, Durban Epic Testing Centre Client

Cheryl Clegg, Cape Town Epic Testing Centre Client

Jaco, PI; Cape Town Epic Testing Centre Client
What a fast and friendly service!
Nadia, Maritime Solutions

My client would like to thank the entire Cape Town Epicentre team, for the excellent manner in which their employees have been made aware of their status.

Jan, Optimal Solve; Cape Town Epic Testing Centre Client

I am so grateful for all that Johann has done for us as a family and still doing. I am eternally grateful, and I stand in awe of his kindness. It brings tears to my eyes to think that someone can be so kind to total strangers. May the Lord bless you and keep you and take you from strength to strength. I took my uncle from a drug house about two months ago. He was slowly disappearing because of malnutrition. He doesn’t have any children or a wife. We all he has, and now you are willing to go the extra mile for him. My words are not enough to thank you. 🙏🏼 Bless you sir

Melton, Cape Town Epic Testing centre client

They are simply the best! Good customer service, cognisant of the need for sensitivity and confidentiality and very friendly. I used to do my tests with another facility but now I’m a repeat client at Epicentre and the best part is that they take walk-ins. I needed to do a lot of tests and screenings two weeks ago, the results were delivered earlier than promised and yesterday, I went back for other tests. Please check them out, you won’t regret it! They are currently doing a Cough Check tor free, I already did mine.

Yolanda, Johannesburg Branch

This is a really great place to get any kind of pathology work done. The staff are very kind and efficient and the discounted prices of the tests are an added bonus. I would highly recommend this centre.

Thule, Johannesburg Branch

My experience getting blood tests at the Epicentre has been excellent as the staff are all very friendly and professionally. The staff are well trained at taking blood painlessly and if they feel they can’t find the vain they will find a more senior staff member to do it. As someone with difficult collapsed veins i never worry about becoming a pin cushion at Epicentre.

Kylie, Johannesburg Branch

The people here are so friendly and helpful. My blood was taken quickly efficiently and painlessly and my results were recieved a day later via email. I give them a five star rating.

Epicentre Vaccines Explained

What is a COVID Vaccine?

Different types of vaccines work in different ways to offer protection. But with all types of vaccines, the body is left with a supply of “memory” T-lymphocytes as well as B-lymphocytes (types of defensive white blood cell) that will remember how to fight a virus like COVID-19 in the future.

It typically takes a few weeks after your COVID vaccination for the body to produce T-lymphocytes and B-lymphocytes. Therefore, it is possible that a person could be infected with COVID-19 just before or just after vaccinating and then get sick because the vaccine did not have enough time to build up protection.

Sometimes after getting vaccinated, the process of building immunity can cause symptoms, like a fever. These symptoms are normal and are signs that the body is building up immunity.

What is the Cough Check test procedure?

To get vaccinated with Epicentre, you simply need to come to our vaccination centre.

When you come through you will be booked in, remember to bring your ID. Then you will quickly be brought through to our vaccination tent. You will be introduced to our friendly nurse, who will quickly and gently preform your vaccination.

What are we hoping to achieve?

We all want things to return to normal. We want the hospitals to have open beds, and we want people to feel safe again when they shop, see friends and family and go to the movies. We want our economy to open up again, and we want this all to feel normal and not a distant reality. As long as people are getting very sick from this virus and peoples immune systems do not have strong enough defences to allow mutations, we won’t have normal. Vaccinations are a crucial way we can achieve this vision, and Epicentre wants to help our country achieve this.

What COVID vaccines do we have?

We have both the Pfizer and J&J vaccines, and you can get your booster shots with us.

How can a COVID vaccine help you?

Getting sick with COVID-19 can have serious consequences.

Getting sick with COVID-19 can cause severe illness or death, even in children, and we can’t reliably predict who will have mild or severe illness.

You may have long-term health issues after COVID-19 infection. Even people who do not have symptoms when they are initially infected can have these ongoing health problems.

People who are sick with COVID-19 may spread COVID-19 to others, including friends and family who are not eligible for vaccination and people at increased risk for severe illness from COVID-19

COVID-19 Vaccines Are Safe for Children and Adults

While COVID-19 vaccines were developed quickly, this was because the technology behind these vaccines were in development for a long time.

Hundreds of millions of people in the United States have received COVID-19 vaccines under the most intensive safety monitoring program in U.S. history. Vaccines have passed and they are super strict.

There is a lot of research and intense scrutiny on these vaccines, and all the science is saying that the benefits of getting a vaccine are way outweighing any small risk.

COVID-19 vaccines are effective

Like needing to get a tetanus shot more than once, recent data suggests that COVID-19 vaccines become less effective at preventing infection or severe illness over time, especially for people ages 65 years and older. This is why booster shots are recommended for people ages 12 years and older who have completed their primary vaccination series. However, even as the vaccine’s ability to prevent infection decreases with time, COVID-19 vaccination continues to reduce the risk of hospitalization and death when people become infected with COVID-19.

People who have certain medical conditions or who are taking medications that weaken their immune system may not be completely protected even if they completed the primary vaccination series. Some people who are moderately or severely immunocompromised should get an additional primary dose of COVID-19 vaccine and a booster shot.

COVID-19 vaccination is a more reliable way to build protection

The level of protection people get from having COVID-19 (sometimes called natural immunity) may vary depending on how mild or severe their illness was, the time since their infection, and their age; and there is still not an antibody test available that can reliably determine if a person is protected from further infection.

All COVID-19 vaccines currently available in South Africa are effective at preventing COVID-19. Staying up to date with COVID-19 vaccination gives most people a high level of protection against COVID-19.

You should get a COVID-19 vaccine, even if you already had COVID-19. Emerging evidence shows that getting a COVID-19 vaccine after you recover from COVID-19 illness provides added protection to your immune system.

When should you get a COVID Vaccine?

You should wait a minimum of 30 days after recovering from COVID to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. Having at least 30-days between infection and vaccination would lead to an enhanced boosting of immunity.

If you have not been infected recently, you should get your vaccinations as soon as possible to start your protection.

When will a COVID vaccine protect you?

According to CDC guidelines, you are fully vaccinated when it has been:

Two weeks after your second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines.

Two weeks after a single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. However, data from clinical trials are clear that there is further improvement four weeks after the single-shot vaccine, especially for preventing severe COVID-19 or having asymptomatic infection. For this reason, Johns Hopkins Medicine recommends four weeks after the single-dose vaccine to be considered fully vaccinated.
