Project Description
ManUp: Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC)

Epicentre is a 20-year old South African company on a mission to make a difference. Epicentre’s ManUp teams are working in Durban and Cape Town as well as surrounding areas to bring this much-needed intervention to these communities and nationwide to businesses.
Voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) is the complete removal of the foreskin of the penis by surgical means. In the mid-2000s, male circumcision was found to reduce the female-to-male sexual transmission of HIV by 60%. It remains the only one-off intervention that reduces the risk of HIV infection and is highly cost-effective.
Epicentre’s ManUp Businesses provide full, free and safe medical male circumcisions to employees which reduce absenteeism by 75%; as our research suggests that circumcision will drop future absenteeism from 15 days a year to 3, per employee. Medical male circumcisions offer significant lifelong protection against HIV and other sexual illnesses for workers and partners. Lower HIV positive workers will mean no clinic visits for medications and less sick days. When you have a 75% drop in future absenteeism that’s a win for business and employees.
If you are a business reaching out to capitalize on protecting your employees or if would like to make an appointment to receive a circumcision for you or a loved one,
