What does the panel measure?

The markers your HIV team follows to see how well treatment is working and to keep an eye on your organ health, all from one blood draw.

This works alongside your clinic: HIV monitoring and treatment are available free at public clinics in South Africa. This panel is a private, convenient option that complements the care you already receive; always share results with your HIV clinician.

Immune status

CD4 Count. How strong your immune system is, a key measure your team tracks over time.

Viral load

HIV Viral Load. How much virus is in your blood, the main measure of how well treatment is controlling HIV.

Blood count

Full Blood Count (FBC). A full blood count for your overall health and to pick up changes early.

Kidney function

Creatinine. A check on how your kidneys are coping, important on long-term treatment.

Liver function

AST, ALT. Two liver enzymes that help confirm your treatment is being tolerated well.

How it works

Three steps, no GP needed

1

Book a slot or walk in

Reserve a time at your branch, or walk straight in. No doctor's referral, and no fasting needed.

2

Quick blood draw

A nurse takes a small blood sample, just a few minutes, in private.

3

Results in 2 to 5 days

A clear, confidential result within 2 to 5 working days, with a free certificate you can share with your doctor.

The staff at reception as well as the nurses are friendly and professional. I've also always received results timeously. I would give 10 stars if I could.

What this does not do

This panel supports the care you receive. It is a convenient check, not a replacement for your HIV clinic or your treatment plan.

  • It is for people already diagnosed with HIV; it is not a test to diagnose HIV. For that, see our HIV Screening test.
  • Always share these results with your HIV clinician, who reads them alongside your history and treatment.
  • Do not start, stop or change any treatment based on these results; that is a decision for your clinician.
  • A single set of results is a snapshot; your team reads your numbers as a trend over time.
