What's tested

What does the panel measure?

Two core organ-function panels in one blood draw, so you can see how your liver and kidneys are working side by side.

Why these two together: many medicines are processed by the liver and cleared by the kidneys, so checking both gives a rounded view of organ function. It is a common monitoring check, and a useful baseline.

Liver function

LFT Panel. A full liver function panel: the enzymes and proteins that show how your liver is working and coping with its workload.

Kidney function

U&E and Creatinine. Urea, electrolytes and creatinine: the markers that show how well your kidneys are filtering.

The staff at reception as well as the nurses are friendly and professional. I've also always received results timeously. I would give 10 stars if I could.

What this does not do

These panels show how your liver and kidneys are working at one point in time. They are a starting point for a conversation, not a diagnosis on their own.

  • A single result is a snapshot; trends over time tell you more.
  • They do not diagnose liver or kidney disease on their own; unusual results are followed up with your doctor.
  • If you are on medication that needs monitoring, follow the testing schedule your doctor sets rather than relying on ad-hoc tests.
  • Results are meant to inform a discussion with a registered practitioner.
