Frequently Asked Questions

What time of day should I test hormones?
Morning before 10am for cortisol and testosterone (both peak early morning). Most other hormones are less time-sensitive, though morning testing is generally preferred.
What day of my cycle should I test?
FSH, LH, oestradiol: Day 2 – 5 (Day 1 = first day of period). Progesterone: Day 21 or 7 days before expected period. TSH, prolactin, DHEA-S: any day. Not sure? WhatsApp us.
Do I need to fast?
Most hormone tests: no fasting. Panels that include fasting insulin or glucose: fast 8 – 10 hours. Water and black coffee are fine.
Can I test while on contraception or hormone therapy?
Yes, but results will be affected. Let your doctor know when interpreting. Some doctors prefer testing during the pill-free week or after a temporary pause.
What is the difference between TSH, T3 and T4?
TSH is the brain's signal to produce thyroid hormones (most sensitive marker). T4 is what the thyroid produces. T3 is the active form used by the body. A complete panel tests all three plus antibodies for autoimmune thyroid conditions.
How do I know if I have PCOS?
PCOS is diagnosed using symptoms, ultrasound and blood tests. Key markers: elevated LH:FSH ratio, elevated testosterone, elevated insulin, low SHBG. The PCOS Metabolic Panel covers these. Discuss results with your doctor for diagnosis.
