You have two ways to test from home. Order a kit and collect the sample yourself, or book one of our nurses to come to you. Either way, your results land in your inbox or WhatsApp just like a walk-in test.

Common Questions

Do I need a doctor's referral?
No doctor's referral is needed. Walk into any Epicentre branch. Booking online is optional but reduces your wait time.
Can I just walk in without booking?
Yes. All three labs accept walk-ins during opening hours. Booking ahead is recommended if you want a specific time slot.
How long do results take?
Blood tests take 2 to 5 working days. PCR swab tests (STIs, gut health) take 5 to 7 working days. Antibody tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B take 2 to 3 working days, with urgent turnaround available on request. Note: urgent samples taken on a Friday may be delayed by the weekend courier schedule, so test earlier in the week if timing is critical. You receive a plain-language report and a standard lab report by email or WhatsApp.
Do I need to fast before my test?
Some packages require 8 to 10 hours of fasting (water only). These are marked on each package card. If you are unsure, arrive fasting to keep your options open.
What should I bring?

Bring your ID if you are a pensioner claiming the 10% discount or doing legal paternity testing.

If you want to claim from medical aid, just bring your medical aid card. We submit the claim to your medical aid for you and can connect you to partner doctors who can apply for chronic benefits if you need them. Read more about medical aid claims.

Cash and card patients do not need any documentation.

How does home testing work?
Order a testing kit online from our shop. The kit arrives in discreet packaging. Collect your sample at home following the included instructions, then send it back by free courier (within 10km of a branch) or prepaid post (R300 nationwide).
