What this does not do
This test tells you whether HPV is present, not which type. A positive result is common and is not a diagnosis of cancer.
- A positive result tells you HPV is present but not which type; the Comprehensive HPV panel identifies that.
- Most HPV infections clear on their own; a positive result is not a cancer diagnosis.
- Results are best discussed with a clinician, who can advise on any follow-up.
