What does the test check?
All 28 types on the panel, individually typed and grouped by risk.
Type-level detail. A standard screen or a 16/18 test reports most of these as “other high-risk”. This panel names each one, including HPV 35, one of the most common high-risk types in South Africa.
High-risk types (19)

How to take your sample at home
It takes about five minutes: the swab, then a urine sample. The instruction sheet in your box shows every step with pictures.
Before you start: don’t pee for at least 1 hour before you collect, and wash your hands before and after.
The vaginal swab
- Take the swab out of its tube. Don’t touch the soft tip.
- Insert the swab into your vagina.
- Gently rotate it clockwise for 10 to 30 seconds.
- Put it back in the tube and close the lid firmly. Wash your hands.
The urethral swab
- Take the swab out of its tube. Don’t touch the soft tip.
- Insert the swab 2 to 4 cm into the urethra, the opening at the tip of the penis.
- Gently rotate it clockwise for 2 to 3 seconds.
- Put it back in the tube and close the lid firmly. Wash your hands.
The urine sample
- Wash your hands and open the jar, ideally next to the toilet.
- Clean yourself with toilet paper. If you have a vulva, wipe from front to back.
- Start peeing into the toilet, then fill the jar halfway from the middle of the stream.
- Close the lid firmly, then stretch the seal strip tightly around the lid so it can’t leak.

- Sign the formRead the information sheet, sign the consent form and put it back in the box.
- Pack your samplesPut the swab and the jar in the zip-lock bag, and the bag in the box.

What this test does not do
- This test names which HPV types are present. It does not diagnose cancer or any other condition.
- HPV is very common and most infections clear on their own. A positive result means follow-up, not a cancer diagnosis.
- If you have severe pain, a fever or feel very unwell, see a doctor or go to an emergency unit now rather than waiting for results.
- Your report is a starting point for a conversation with your doctor. Epicentre does not diagnose, treat or prescribe.
