What's tested

What does the screen cover?

Seventeen targets by PCR, grouped into the common STIs, the bacteria behind vaginal imbalance, and the organisms that affect vaginal health. All from a self-collected swab and urine sample.

A complete picture: this screen looks beyond the standard STIs to include the bacteria linked to bacterial vaginosis and the organisms that shape vaginal balance, so symptoms can be understood properly rather than guessed at.

Common STIs

Chlamydia trachomatis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Trichomonas vaginalis, Mycoplasma genitalium, HSV, HPV. The sexually transmitted infections most worth ruling in or out, including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomonas, herpes and HPV.

BV-associated bacteria

Gardnerella vaginalis, Atopobium vaginae, BVAB2, Mobiluncus spp, Prevotella bivia, Megasphaera spp. The bacteria linked to bacterial vaginosis and an imbalanced vaginal microbiome.

Balance and other organisms

Candida spp, Lactobacillus spp, Mycoplasma hominis, Ureaplasma urealyticum, E. coli O18. Yeast, your protective lactobacilli, mycoplasma and ureaplasma, plus E. coli.

The staff at reception as well as the nurses are friendly and professional. I've also always received results timeously. I would give 10 stars if I could.

What this does not do

This screen detects a wide range of organisms. Results are read alongside your symptoms, and they are a starting point for a conversation with your doctor.

  • Some organisms on this panel can be present normally; detecting one does not always mean treatment is needed.
  • Results are best discussed with a clinician who can see the whole picture.
  • If you have severe pain, fever or feel very unwell, seek medical care now rather than waiting for results.
  • Results are meant to inform a discussion with a registered practitioner.
