What's tested

What does the assessment check?

Thirty-five blood markers across every major system, with advanced cardiovascular, hormone and trace-element testing, all from a single fasting draw.

The most thorough panel we offer: a full-body picture for anyone who wants to be as detailed as possible about their health.

Blood sugar and insulin

Glucose, HbA1c, Insulin (fasting), C-Peptide. A detailed look at blood-sugar control and how your body makes insulin.

Kidney, liver and pancreas

U&E and Electrolytes, Amylase, Lipase, Uric Acid, LFT Panel. Kidney, liver and pancreas function, plus uric acid.

Heart and cardiovascular risk

Lipogram, Apolipoprotein A/B, Fibrinogen, CRP, Hs-CRP (ultrasensitive), Homocysteine. An advanced view of cholesterol, clotting and inflammation linked to heart risk.

Thyroid

TSH, Free T4, Free T3. A full thyroid picture.

Hormones

DHEAS, Oestrogen, Testosterone (total), Free Testosterone, SHBG, Progesterone. A wider hormone profile across the adrenal and sex hormones.

Minerals and trace elements

Iron Studies, Calcium, Phosphate, Magnesium (serum), Magnesium (RBC), Copper, Zinc. Iron stores plus the key minerals and trace elements.

Blood and vitamins

FBC, Vitamin B12, Vitamin D3, LDH. A full blood count, two key vitamins and a general tissue marker.

What you get back

Every result comes with an ODx report

These packages were built around the OptimalDX framework, on the recommendation of the ODx team. With your results you receive an ODx Functional Health Report: rather than only flagging disease, it reads each marker against optimal ranges, so you can see where your health sits on the full spectrum, catch imbalances early and track how your numbers move over time. It turns your results into clear, practical next steps.

The ODx report is included with every non-infection lab test at Epicentre. Sexual health, gut health and parasite tests come with their own specialist reports instead.

Because this package is over R1,500, it also includes a free one-on-one ODx specialist session to walk through your report and build a plan. Optional, with no obligation.

The staff at reception as well as the nurses are friendly and professional. I've also always received results timeously. I would give 10 stars if I could.

What this does not do

A broad panel is a snapshot. It flags areas to look at; it does not diagnose disease on its own.

  • Results are a screen, not a diagnosis; values outside range need follow-up with a doctor.
  • Reference ranges vary; read your results with a clinician who knows your history.
  • A normal panel does not rule out every condition; some problems need other tests.
  • Several markers are affected by fasting; results assume you fasted as advised.
  • If you feel unwell or have specific symptoms, see a doctor rather than waiting for a routine panel.
