Epicentre is now hiring a data assistant to work with our long time data managing guru in our Hillcrest branch for our two new research projects. Help us embark on our next exciting instalment. Join our team and help your country fight back in the war on COVID-19!
Epicentre is looking for data manager assistant who:
-
Comfortable working with technology
- like computers and tablets
- Comfortable with programs application
- Redcap experience would be highly advantageous
- intermediate experience in Excel
- have exposure to SPSS and/or Strata (great but not crucial)
- Experience in making questionnaires would be preferable
- Has a positive attitude, is full of energy and new ideas
- Has emotional intelligence
- Have the ability to understand, use, and manage your own emotions in positive ways to relieve stress, communicate effectively, empathize with others, overcome challenges and defuse conflict
- Good under pressure
- We need a person who is self-disciplined
- Has the ability to control themselves and to make themselves work hard or behave in a particular way without needing anyone else to tell them what to do
- We need a person who is highly motivated
- A person who not only works hard, but is also proactive, which means that they look for things that need to be done without being asked.
- We need a person who is detail-orientated
- Being detail-oriented means paying close attention to all of the small particulars when working on a task or project. Detail-oriented employees complete each assignment as flawlessly as possible before moving to the next task. This means the projects they submit are usually high-quality work with little to no errors
- Comfortable with routine
- Works well in teams
- Good people skills
- Candidates with a driver’s licence will be preferred
- Candidates should be fluent in English
- All ages welcome
Information about the Job
- These two projects are COVID-19 antibody studies.
- This means that we will be helping South Africans understand how many people caught COVID-19 and if they have protection from catching the infection again.
These two national COVID prevalence studies will work with:
- The National Institute for Communicable Diseases in South Africa (NICD)
- Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa (HSRC)
These projects will start in September and end before the December Christmas holidays. However, there will be more opportunity to continue working with us in January based on how well you work with the Epicentre team. Epicentre also believes deeply in upward mobility.
Epicentre Data Assistants
- We have positions available in
- Hillcrest (Durban, KZN)
- Work weeks will be
- 5 days from Monday to Friday
- from 8am until 4:30pm
- Duties
- Monitoring survey submissions
- Data cleaning
- Assisting in survey design
- exporting and importing data
- monitoring and evaluating
- Redcap app set up
