Help us embark on our next exciting instalment. Join our team and help your country fight back in the war on COVID-19! Epicentre is now hiring venipuncture nurses & phlebotomists (people who are trained in taking blood from others) for our two new research projects in Klerksdorp.
Epicentre is looking for nurses & drivers who:
- Have a positive attitude, are full of energy and new ideas
- We need people who are self-disciplined
- Have the ability to control themselves and to make themselves work hard or behave in a particular way without needing anyone else to tell them what to do
- We need people who are highly motivated
- A person not only works hard, but is also proactive, which means that they look for things that need to be done without being asked.
- We need people who are detail-orientated
- Being detail-oriented means paying close attention to all the small particulars when working on a task or project. Detail-oriented employees complete each assignment as flawlessly as possible before moving to the next task. This means the projects they submit are usually high-quality work with little to no errors
- Comfortable working with technology
- like computers and iPads
- And with using social media (like Facebook, & Instagram, and Twitter)
- Comfortable with everyday being different
- one day you’ll be at your desk, the next you’ll be working in the community & the day after you might be in a big board meeting
- Works well in teams
- We need nurses and drivers that are comfortable working with their teams, not just telling others to do things
- Good people skills
- you need to be comfortable meeting new people every day and be able to motivate them to take part in our study
- You must have good navigation skills
- You’ll often be travelling to participants,
- we need people who are comfortable using Google Maps and who can find their way
- We need supervisors who are passionate about improving the health of their community and who want to make a real difference in peoples’ lives
- because you will be helping South Africa to get real information in the largest COVID study in South Africa
- Helping South Africa and the world understand this pandemic
- Nurses with a driver’s licence will be preferred
- Must be comfortable with short term travel

Information about the Job
- These two projects are COVID-19 antibody studies.
- This means that we will be helping South Africans understand how many people caught COVID-19 and if they have protection from catching the infection again.
These two national COVID prevalence studies will work with:
- The National Institute for Communicable Diseases in South Africa (NICD)
- Human Sciences Research Council of South Africa (HSRC)
These projects will start in September and break during the December Christmas holidays and end mid-February. However, there will be more opportunity to continue working with us after the project ebds based on how well you work with the Epicentre team.
Epicentre Nurses
- We have positions available in Klerksdorp

You will need to know how to take blood from participants

Venipuncture or phlebotomy is required

- You will then work as a team of Nurses
- You will go into the field (the community) with your team, find participants and work with your team to convince them to participate in our study
- You will need to work with your team’s supervisor and communicate any problems you have so that they can help deal with any problems by communicating with us at the head office
- You will be working in your respective province but you will also be expected to travel to neighbouring provinces for short 2-week periods.
- Work weeks will be
- 5 days
- From 11am to 8pm
- Sunday to Thursday
Epicentre Driver Data Collectors
- We have positions available in Klerksdorp

You will need to be a driver with at least 3 years of driving experience

As proven by your licence

- You will then work with a nurse
- You will go into the field (the community) with your team-mate, find participants and work with your team to convince them to participate in our study
- You will need to work with your team’s supervisor and communicate any problems you have so that they can help deal with any problems by communicating with us at the head office
- You will be working in your respective province but you will also be expected to travel to neighbouring provinces for short 2-week periods.
- Work weeks will be
- 5 days
- From 11am to 8pm
- Sunday to Thursday
