Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH) Levels test
This test is used in men and women to measure the level of FSH found in your blood. Your doctor will order an FSH test to find the underlying cause of symptoms affecting the reproductive system, assessing irregular menstrual cycles and diagnosing disorders of the pituitary gland or diseases involving the ovaries.
This test measures the level of luteinizing hormone (LH) in your blood. LH is made by your pituitary gland. In women, the pituitary sends out LH during the ovulation part of the menstrual cycle. This tells the ovaries to release a mature egg.
This test is helpful for assessing fertility issues, as this hormone is crucial for preparing your uterus for a fertilized egg. Testing for this hormone is also very important as if you become pregnant, progesterone helps you remain pregnant. Progesterone also inhibits your milk production during pregnancy. When you go into labour, your progesterone levels drop, which helps trigger your milk production. You can be treated for low progesterone levels, so picking up an imbalance is crucial for any women hoping to conceive.
Prolactin is produced by the pituitary gland in the brain. Measuring prolactin is important when checking for pituitary tumours and/or assessing issues with breast milk production, decreased sex drive, infertility, & an absence or irregular menstrual periods (amenorrhea).
Additional Tests
This test measures the amount of estradiol (E2), a form of estrogen made mainly by the ovaries. This test can help your doctor with the assessment of menstrual problems, ovarian tumors, gynecomastia, menopausal symptoms and breast cancer.

Testosterone plays an important role in reproductive health of women as well as men. Women need only small amounts of testosterone, as too much or too little can interfere with fertility. Testosterone level assessment in women can help with bone health, breast health, fertility, sex drive, menstrual health, & vaginal health.

Dehydroepiandrosterone Test (DHEAS)
Like cortisol, DHEA is made by the adrenal glands. DHEA is a precursor to many steroid hormones, including testosterone and estrogen. Low levels can prevent ovulation and are associated with low ovarian reserve.
R244
A cortisol test measures the level of cortisol in your body. Cortisol is a hormone made by your adrenal glands. The test determines whether you have too much or too little of the hormone. A hormone secreted by the adrenal glands, in response to stress. High levels of cortisol are associated with infertility and early miscarriage

Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
This test measures the levels of SHBG in your blood. SHBG stands for sex hormone binding globulin. It’s a protein made by the liver and attaches itself to sex hormones found in both men and women. These hormones are estrogen, dihydrotestosterone (DHT), and testosterone. SHBG carries these 3 hormones throughout your blood. Abnormal levels of SHBG may be a predictor for gestational diabetes in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (Veltman-Verhulst et al., 2010), and may impact the outcome of fertility assisted pregnancy (Lin & Sun, 2005).
