What Is HUTS 2?
HUTS 2 or the Healthcare UTilisation and Seroprevalence Repeat Survey is a study that returned to communities in Edendale (Pietermaritzburg) and Mitchells Plain (Cape Town) to find out more about the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic in South Africa.
What Does HUTS 2 Do With Participants?
A short questionnaire with invited participants, and we ask to take a small amount of blood to find out if they have had COVID in the past. Then as a thank-you, they got a R50 SPAR voucher!
How Will This Study Help?
HUTS-2 got information on community members that had COVID-19 but did not feel sick or could not go to health services when they got sick. This information is important to guide planning and decision-making for preventing future waves of the pandemic in South Africa, as well as to help ensure that health facilities are available to those who need them.
