What's tested

What does the panel check?

Nine blood markers covering the nutrients and systems most affected by a vegetarian or vegan diet, from one fasting draw.

The plant-based essentials: the nutrients most likely to run low without animal products, so you can fill gaps before they affect how you feel.

Key plant-based nutrients

Vitamin B12, Iron Studies, Vitamin D, Zinc. The nutrients most likely to run low on a plant-based diet.

Minerals

Magnesium, Calcium. Two minerals worth tracking when dairy and animal products are limited.

Blood, cholesterol and kidney

FBC, Lipogram, Creatinine. A full blood count, your cholesterol balance and a kidney marker.

What you get back

Your results come with an ODx report

With this panel you also receive an ODx Functional Health Report, which reads your results against optimal ranges, not just disease ranges, so you can spot imbalances early and track them over time. Because this panel is over R1,500, it also includes a free one-on-one ODx specialist session to walk through your results.

The staff at reception as well as the nurses are friendly and professional. I've also always received results timeously. I would give 10 stars if I could.

What this does not do

A nutrient screen is a snapshot. It flags areas to look at; it does not diagnose anything on its own.

  • Results are a screen, not a diagnosis; values outside range need follow-up with a doctor.
  • A normal result does not rule out every deficiency; some need other tests.
  • Supplements and recent diet changes affect results; mention them when you discuss them.
  • Several markers are affected by fasting; results assume you fasted as advised.
  • If you feel unwell, see a doctor rather than waiting for a routine panel.

Yes. Fast for at least 8 hours before your blood draw; water is fine. A morning slot is easiest.
Carry on as usual, but tell us and your doctor what you take, since supplements affect several of these markers.
No. Book online and visit any branch without a doctor's referral.
Typically 2 to 5 working days, with a clear report you can share with your doctor.
