Frequent Questions

What is an Optimal DX Lab Report?

An Optimal DX Lab Report is a personalized health report that provides a detailed analysis of your lab test results, using optimal health ranges rather than just standard “normal” ranges. It goes beyond traditional lab reports to give a more complete picture of your health. The report identifies early signs of potential issues, such as nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, or inflammation, even if your results are technically within normal limits.

The goal of the Optimal DX Lab Report is to help you understand your current health status and provide insights for improving and optimizing your well-being. It offers tailored recommendations for diet, lifestyle changes, and treatments based on your specific results, helping you take proactive steps to maintain or improve your health.

What kind of tests are included in an Optimal DX Lab Report?

Short answer: Any test at Epicentre outside of our STI tests

Long answer: An Optimal DX lab report typically includes a range of functional blood chemistry tests, utilizing “optimal ranges” for various biomarkers, allowing practitioners to identify potential health concerns related to conditions like diabetes, insulin resistance, liver dysfunction, inflammation, thyroid issues, and more, going beyond just “normal” lab ranges to detect subtle imbalances that may indicate early signs of disease; this often includes tests for hormones, nutrients, metabolic markers, and indicators of inflammation and oxidative stress

How do I interpret the results from my Optimal DX Lab Report?

Interpreting your Optimal DX Lab Report is simple when you understand a few key points:

1. Optimal Ranges: The report uses “optimal ranges” instead of just “normal” ranges. Optimal ranges show the ideal levels for each health marker, helping you aim for the best possible health, not just avoiding disease.

2. Green, Yellow, Red Zones:

Many reports use colour coding.

Green means your levels are within the optimal range, indicating good health.

Yellow suggests you’re outside the ideal range, signalling potential imbalances that you might want to address.

Red indicates results that need immediate attention, as they are well outside the optimal range.

3. Trends: If you’ve had past lab results imported, you can see how your health markers are changing over time. This helps track improvements or spot developing concerns early.

4. Personalised Recommendations: Based on your results, the report will include advice on lifestyle changes, nutrition, supplements, or treatments that are specifically tailored to your needs.

If you’re unsure about your results, you can always speak with an ODX expert to help explain the details and guide you on the next steps to take.

How often should I get an Optimal DX Lab Report?

You should get an Optimal DX Lab Report at least once a year to monitor your overall health and catch any changes early. However, if you’re managing specific health conditions or making lifestyle changes, you might benefit from getting tested every 3 to 6 months.

Regular testing helps track progress, adjust treatments or recommendations, and stay proactive in maintaining or improving your health. Your ODX expert can help determine the best frequency based on your individual needs.

Are Optimal DX Lab Tests covered by insurance?

Whether the Optimal DX Lab tests are covered by insurance depends on your specific insurance provider and plan. Some insurance companies may cover parts of the testing, especially if it’s related to a medical condition. However, functional health testing, which focuses on optimizing health rather than diagnosing a specific illness, might not always be included in standard coverage.

It’s best to check with your insurance provider to see if any of the tests in the report are covered.

How long does it take to receive my Optimal DX Lab Report?

Typically, you will receive your report shortly after receiving your standard results certificate from Epicentre. Our ODX experts must input all your results into our ODX software. As a result, you can expect a lead time of 48 to 72 hours at most between receiving your standard results and your ODX report.
