At Epicentre, we are deeply committed to supporting those who need it most. Today, we are reaching out to you with a powerful call for help, one that focuses on restoring the basic human dignity of young women who have faced unimaginable challenges.
In partnership with the Community Life Centre in Chatsworth, we are launching a donation drive to provide essential items—underwear, hygiene products, and jackets—to women in the centre’s rescue program. These women have suffered trauma, abuse, and abandonment, and one of the most pressing and recurring needs they face is something many of us take for granted: clean, dry underwear.
A Story That Should Never Be True
One of the women in the program shared a heartbreaking story. She walked into class wearing a gown—not out of choice, but because she only had one jacket. When asked why, she quietly explained, “I can’t take it off… I’m wearing very thin leggings, and I don’t have any underwear. I only have one pair, and it’s still drying.”
This story isn’t isolated. It’s the sad reality for many young women in need. Their struggle isn’t just about clothing—it’s about dignity. The simple act of having clean, dry underwear is a powerful symbol of confidence and comfort, offering these women the strength to walk into a room and feel seen, not shamed.
How You Can Help
We are asking for donations of essential items that go beyond luxuries. These are basic human needs:
• Underwear (new and unused)
• Hygiene products (sanitary pads, soaps, deodorants)
• Jackets and other outerwear for the winter months
By donating, you are providing more than just items. You are offering comfort, confidence, and a sense of belonging to someone who has suffered too much. These small acts of kindness will help ensure that no woman in the Community Life Centre’s care will ever again have to say, “I only have one.”
Epicentre’s Commitment to the Cause
Epicentre is proud to support this important cause. We are not only helping to spread the word, but we will also be collecting and delivering donations directly to the centre. We visit the Community Life Centre at least once a month, and we’re ready to ensure your generous donations reach those who need them the most.
You can help by dropping off your donations at our Hillcrest office, or simply give us a call to arrange a donation drop-off. Together, we can make sure these women are supported and empowered with the dignity they deserve.
